Children from Moquegua, Tacna and Arequipa, members of the orchestra and youth choir of Sinfonía por el Perú (Symphony for Peru) inaugurated PERUMIN 36th Mining Convention. The ceremony was attended by national, regional, and municipal authorities, business leaders, representatives of civil organizations, multilateral agencies, among others.
The president of Sinfonía por el Perú, Juan Diego Flórez, who shared a brief musical performance with the children of the youth orchestra, highlighted that the non-profit organization has been generating processes of social transformation through collective music education for 12 years.
"Making progress on this path of social transformation would not be possible without the support of allied companies that believe in and join this purpose. I am grateful to Southern Peru, which has been working with us for three years to continue changing lives and impacting the personal development of children, young people, and adults in Arequipa, Ilo and Tacna," said Flórez.
The orchestra's repertoire included musical pieces from Latin America, Peru and Arequipa, composed by renowned authors such as César Isella, Arturo Márquez, Chabuca Granda, Armando Tejada, Benigno Ballón, among others. Some of the most outstanding songs were Carnaval Arequipeño, Canción para Todos, Danzón número 2 and La Flor de la Canela.
Sinfonía por el Perú, in addition to its involvement in the Southern mining regions, serves more than 6,400 beneficiaries in ten regions of Peru, through 18 nuclei, four modules and four central casts.
