Arequipa, SEPTEMBER 27 2023 Ten Social Startups Will Compete for Three Prizes of S/ 15,000 in PERUMIN Inspira

  • Furthermore, a special recognition of $2,000 in training will be offered to the winning startup in the CIP Agrilac Resiliente category.

 

PERUMIN 36, in addition to strengthening the ties between the academic and business sectors of the Peruvian and global mining industry, is committed to social development. That is why in 2023, it brings the fourth edition of PERUMIN Inspira.

PERUMIN Inspira is an award created by the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP) for startups in the field of sustainable development. This initiative, in partnership with CIP Agrilac Resiliente and managed by Kunan, aims to identify social enterprises in Peru.

The process is currently in its final stage, and the winner will be announced on Thursday, September 28, following the pitch presentations and jury deliberations. The grand awards ceremony for the four winners will take place on Friday, September 29, during the closing ceremony of PERUMIN 36.

Among the finalist startups are Inversiones Qosqo, Prepaso, Nostoc, RIFAI, Hortalizas del Colca, Creativity and Technology from the Colcabamba Community, Inspirall, Única Nueva Esperanza, Café Orígenes, and Wayru Perú.

The selected enterprises offer opportunities to address underlying social and environmental challenges and contribute to eight of the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Good Health and Well-being, Gender Equality, Clean Water and Sanitation, Decent Work and Economic Growth, Responsible Production and Consumption, and Climate Action.

"This edition will have four winners. Three of them in the 'High Impact Startup' category and one thanks to the special recognition 'CIP Agrilac Resiliente,'" shared the president of PERUMIN Inspira, Jimena Sologuren.

Each of the three winners in the 'High Impact Startup' category will receive 15,000 soles in seed capital, thanks to Poderosa Mining, Orica, and the Moquegua Crece program. They will also receive digital technical support from the Kaman Business Incubator of Universidad Católica San Pablo (UCSP).

The prize also includes legal support from the Benites, Vargas & Ugaz Abogados law firm, mentoring sessions with ADN Partners Accelerator, access to virtual workshops thanks to Tecsup, and promotion and dissemination in the media.

The winning project in the CIP Agrilac Resiliente category will receive training valued at $2,000.
