Fourteen dance couples of the National Folkloric Ballet rehearsed for a month for last night's performance at PERUMIN 36. The dancers delivered a magnificent cultural show during the welcome cocktail of the mining event held at Cerro Juli in Arequipa.
Raúl Quispe Valdivia, the director of the National Folkloric Ballet, explained that the rehearsals took place in Lima from Monday to Friday, with four-hour sessions each day, in order to offer an evening of dance and culture.
The dancers arrived in Arequipa on Saturday afternoon to familiarize themselves with the stage, conduct a light and sound check for their final rehearsals, and prepare everything for their performance.
"This is Peru’s official dance company, founded in 2008. Our mission is to produce high-level shows that showcase the cultural richness of our country," he stated.
The idea behind this presentation was to showcase the cultural richness of our country, along with its mineral wealth. Our message underscored the importance of our country’s resources and the significance of our cultural heritage," he mentioned.
The dancers live in Lima, but some come from regions like Ayacucho. In total, there are 21 dance couples, 14 of which traveled to Arequipa, along with nine musicians. In Arequipa, 11 young Arequipeños joined to help in the production of the event. The average age of the dancers ranges from 25 to 38 years.
Raúl Quispe emphasized the importance of PERUMIN 36 in promoting our country's culture. "Every presentation is important to us, especially at such major events that help preserve our culture. We are honored by this invitation because are happy to contribute to the preservation and appreciation of our culture," he noted.
He was also impressed by Arequipa, which once again hosted this important mining event. "Arequipa is one of the most beautiful cities in Peru, with its majestic Misti volcano. It has a warm climate, and the people are very friendly," he said.
The National Folkloric Ballet has embarked on over 25 national and international tours, sharing our country’s cultural heritage on prestigious stages.
